Cave - Villas LIBERTY

The Liberty Style, also known in Italy as a floral style and known worldwide as Art Nouveau, is an artistic-philosophical movement that influenced the visual arts, architecture and arts applied in the decades between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, especially in Europe and South America. The style overcame the eclectic historicism that permeated the Victorian era in the field of architecture and interior design by proposing some elements of the Rococo, such as flame and shell decorations revisited in a modern way, and inspired by nature whose elements were stylized with the addition of algae, grass and insects. The Liberty Cavens buildings show the main characteristics of the artistic movement: floral elements in pictorial, wooden and wrought iron decorations; stuccos to frame windows and entrance doors and to make balconies and handrails in the stairways; colored facades with alternating colors and stuccos, sometimes characterized by a double entrance staircase or by turrets; terraces and gardens adorned with typical plants such as bergenias, hydrangeas and palms. The Art Nouveau houses in Cave can be admired along the main axis of Viale Pio XII, on internal roads such as Via Vittorio Sessi and Viale Giorgioli, in the districts of San Lorenzo and Morino.
